Best Restaurants & Cafes for Catching Rare Pokémon

    August 20, 2016 /

Gotta catch ’em all AND fill your tummy?  Imagine this: You’re sitting comfortably in a chair, enjoying a delicious meal with a cup of coffee, and ever so often, a Pokémon pops up on your screen. But this is no Rattata or Pidgey, it’s a Clefairy! And a Seel! And a Vapereon! Believe it or not – these Poké paradises do actually exist. Ideally, they are located between at least 2 Pokéstops, and have certain geographical features in the proximity that will attract more than just Zubats and Weedles. If you are looking for cafes or restaurants that where you can satisfy your tummy, zhng your Pokédex and level up as a Pokémon trainer, we…

OH Potong Pasir! Why We Love the Latest OH! Art Walkabout.

    March 13, 2016 /

OH! Potong Pasir Tour What do floating dead pigs, ukuleles, tarpaulin and a treehouse have in common? It might surprise you to know they’re all part of the fascinating and ever-changing narrative of Potong Pasir. Once (and to a certain extent, still) considered a sleepy backwater in Singapore’s concrete jungle, Potong Pasir is a classic example of #throwback. For the uninitiated, the OH! Potong Pasir tour isn’t just a stroll around the neighbourhood. The organisers spend a year gathering stories about the estate from its residents, seeking volunteers who are willing to open up their homes, and then linking them up with artists who use these spaces to depict their…

Thank You Mr Lee Kuan Yew: How Singaporeans Say Goodbye

    March 29, 2015 /

This post was initially written as a Facebook status after a night of queuing at the Padang. It has since been updated to include reflections on my experience at the State Funeral Procession.  For the uninitiated, they would probably think that Singaporeans are an impractical lot. Thousands of people, at all times of the day, some choosing to endure the blazing sun (my full respect to you), others willingly sacrificing sleep, with their picnic mats and ponchos, portable chairs and chargers, trusty iPhones and iPads loaded with games and movies. Many simply had multi-functional pieces of cardboard. Legs tired? Sit on it. Too hot? Use to fan. Amidst warning after…

Best Cafes to Work at in Singapore (Part 1)

    October 7, 2014 /

UPDATE: We have a NEW list of awesome cafes in Singapore that are conducive for working and studying! Find the link at the end of this post! It’s that time of the year. The marking season has descended upon us, which explains the strange phenomenon of grown adults all over the island clutching a heap of papers and weeping. Don’t judge us please. To ease the pain a little, ET and I retreat to cafes where we can seek some solace in flat whites or indulge in a plate of truffle fries as we battle the monstrosity of stress-induced gibberish and horrific handwriting. If you’re a teacher like us, or  you need somewhere conducive…

    ETSY Explores: Jalan Riang

    September 15, 2014 /

This little street nestled in the midst of a sleepy Serangoon enclave is a wonderful addition to a growing number of hippie neighbourhood haunts. Despite its relative inaccessibility and hosting only 5 restaurants, it is evident that Jalan Riang is no longer a secret as it attracts a healthy number of patrons even on a regular weekend night. We made several trips to check out what the different restaurants offer, so here’s a little guide to our new favourite haunt!
